Heritage Hotel New Years 2006 party

Heritage Hotel Manager 2005 brought a year of many challenges and changes at Heritage Hotel. The showers of blessing which descended upon Antigua during the last half of 2004, caused intermittent closures of the rooms in the Dockside wing of the hotel. Immediate action was taken to address that problem, and after much frustration, the repairs were satisfactorily completed in December. Additionally, extensive and elaborate upgrades were carried out particularly in the " Housekeeping and Food & Beverage departments. New furnishings, equipment and appliances were also bought to enhance the improvements. 2005 was also a year for specialized training of our staff in an effort to stimulate and mould their professional psyche and provide warm and friendly service to our guests. Consequently, our improved service has contributed greatly to the overall success of the property.

We are delighted also that we have been able to maintain high occupancies throughout the entire year which is testimony of the hard work and the professional discipline of the staff to whom we are eternally grateful. For the first time in its history, Heritage Hotel started to serve all meals on a full scale, and we are particularly proud of our exploits in the Food Service department.. We have had rave reviews to the extent that we felt confident to put on a Gala New Year's Eve Extravaganza.

The New Years Eve Fete from all reports was a magnificent event. Everyone relished the delightful five (5) course spread of seafood and meat platters, a sumptuous salad bar, an elegantly presented and tasty entrée, followed by sweet treats. At midnight the patrons merrily rang in the New Year with much jubilation. The success of that event and the upward trend at Heritage Hotel is attributed to the Executive Director, Management and staff. The support given was

Historic first annual employee awards

It was unique. It was memorable. It was our grandest hour. It was history in the making. St. John’s Development Corporation (SJDC) experienced its first ever annual Employee Awards Ceremony on Thursday 15 December 2005.

After a successful year of challenges, hard work and commitment, the human resource of the Corporation was recognized for their participation and determination in ensuring that SJDC remains as the number one developmental organization in the city of St. John’s. The staff was challenged to accept the changes within the corporation and work towards achieving the goals of productivity and profitability in 2005.

Forty-two employees received certificates in recognition of their sterling performance and dedication to duty, while the most outstanding employee of each business unit (4) received complimentary airline tickets to any Caribbean destination that Caribbean Star or BWIA flies.
Employee Gathering
Mr. Damon Merrick Maintenance Assistant captured the overall employee of the Corporation for 2005 and was awarded a ticket to any US territory that BWIA flies. Mr. Merrick is a model employee, a very optimistic, courteous and helpful individual. He receives directives well and ensures that the job is done efficiently.
He is indeed an asset to the corporation.

There was a competitive atmosphere throughout the year. As such, everyone could not have been awarded alike, the competition was close and a number of employees received gifts and small tokens. Among them, was the Executive Director Mr. Anthony Stuart who was recognized for his vision and positive impact on the
Corporation particularly its human resource.

He has the full support of his management and staff. It was a grand evening of fun and laughter, as the employees performed and entertained. The evening ended with a sumptuous dinner and dance. 2005 has ended and so has the awards ceremony. 2006 beckons and challenges, who will be the overall employee of the Corporation?
